My journey as a wedding officiant started just two short years ago when my best friend promoted me from bridesmaid to officiant. Legally they were already married, so there was no need to become ordained. I would be performing the ceremony in front of my second family, so there was also no reason to be nervous. After months of proofreading vows and preparing my script, it was time for the wedding rehearsal, and the nerves kicked in. You would have thought it was me tying the knot! Finally, the wedding day arrived and my nerves turned into adrenaline, and I was on a mission to make their day the best day of their lives! It was an amazing day, and I realized that this might be my thing. I loved being able to showcase their love for each other in front of their family and friends. Shortly after word got out, I was blessed with the opportunity of officiating a ceremony, for a couple who was about to lose their mother to cancer. I eagerly researched how to get ordained and within days we put together a very intimate ceremony in the comfort of their home. That was the day that put the stamp of approval on my thoughts, that this was part of my purpose in life. To acknowledge love, showcase it, and legally bind the love of two together forever.
